This report presents the outcomes of the Extension Project Care and Awareness for Animals Victims of Abuse, part of the Biodiversity Program, which aims to raise awareness and disseminate knowledge regarding wildlife trafficking, biopiracy, and animal mistreatment. Since 2019, the project has engaged undergraduate interns and faculty members in the design and implementation of educational activities, including an interactive exhibition and reflective learning workshops conducted at the institution’s Biodiversity Space. These initiatives target preschool through high school students, offering hands-on interactions with rescued animals and curated content on environmental legislation and the impact of illegal animal trade. To date, 958 participants, students, teachers, and community members, have taken part in these activities. Evaluation results indicate high levels of engagement and enhanced understanding, particularly regarding animal protection laws. The project’s methodology aligns with the institution’s mission to produce, disseminate, and apply knowledge in support of active citizenship and environmental responsibility.
