Afro-Brazilian culture is a fundamental pillar of Brazil’s national identity; nevertheless, the contributions of African peoples are often underappreciated, including within the school context, thereby reinforcing the perpetuation of structural racism. In this regard, this project aimed to promote the appreciation of African-Brazilian culture in basic education, by contextualizing the subject and proposing inclusion strategies within the school environment. To this end, a literature review was conducted, which provided the theoretical foundation for the creation of an educational brochure. The material was delivered to education professionals at a state school in the municipality of São Bernardo do Campo, where a dialogical interaction with the group took place. The results obtained were satisfactory: all respondents to the evaluation questionnaire stated that the initiative contributed to their personal and professional development, revealing the importance of addressing the subject. Finally, the execution of this project proved relevant to all responsible students, acting not only as an invitation to reflect on African-Brazilian culture in school education, but also as a call for antiracist action.
