Abstract

The “community” concept seen by Social Psychology expands the field of action of the clinical psychologist, enabling him to work in a popular segment with needs and demands in Health, Education and basic sanitation, partnering with other institutions to promote well-being for families and your children. Highlights the concept of psychohygiene in Public Health, focusing on Mental Health. Goals. Bring the community closer to the university. Encourage resident-guests self-reflection to become aware of their collective reality, aiming to take ownership of their own stories and existences. Method. At the “Social Responsibility Day-FundAção e Cidadania” event, at Centro Universitário Fundação Santo André, holding the “Socially Responsible” seal, issued by the Brazilian Association of Supporters of Higher Education Institutions; and basing on “Living Library”, academics created: “ConVida Book-Workshop”, to rescue the individual and collective subjectivity/identity of a community, promoting mental health. The chosen one: from Vila Palmares, the “Movement for the Defense of Residents’ Rights in Housing Nuclei in Santo André” (MDDF). Results and Discussion. The workshop took place on November 28, 2023, for two hours, at the Faculty of Psychology, with the participation of registered undergraduates, carrying out learning through theory, culminating in the end with photos of everyone and the exhibition of the collection of guests. Final considerations. There is an urgent need for the university to position itself within the community, encouraging more people to join mental health promotion and disease prevention programs, mitigating the consequences of fatalism and making Psychology more community-based, less selective and more humane.
