Species trafficking is a sequential exploitation of various weaknesses in society for economic gain, not only natural biodiversity is exploited, but people in vulnerable situations are exploited. The consequences of these practices are diverse, negatively impacting both natural biodiversity and those exploited as labor. The use of social networks has made it much easier to obtain exotic and wild species for breeding as pets, information exchange groups, images and videos portraying these animals do not promote awareness or portray the impacts of animal trafficking, they only demonstrate the positive side of being have these species. It is important to promote debate on the subject within classrooms, emphasizing the environmental impacts and how necessary it is to prohibit this practice. The following project sought to raise awareness among students at the Clothilde Martins Zanei secondary education institution on topics surrounding wildlife trafficking, as well -animal display and animal exhibition on social media, through a presentation with slides, demonstration of live snakes and exhibition of zoological material from the Centro Universitário Fundação Santo André. Thus promoting awareness among this public about the importance of environmental preservation and the threats posed to biodiversity caused by animal trafficking. The students demonstrated euphoric behavior while handling snakes, and with the exhibition of the zoological collection, they remained interested and curious. These teaching methods proved to be important for cultivating an interest in biology and environmental preservation.
